Throughout the week of March 9th 2026, members of the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition met with their legislators to advocate for zero waste policies during the 2026 legislative session as part of the Minnesota Zero Waste Week of Action. Over 60 zero waste advocates signed up to urge their representatives to support legislation from electronic waste battery stewardship, plastic reduction in state purchasing, phthalates testing and reporting, incineration standards, and more!
The week started a lobby training put on by the Coalition and there was a letter writing campaign alongside the week for folks who are unable to get meetings. By the end of the week, zero waste advocates had sent almost 200 letters.
