Take Action Now

Minnesota’s zero waste future depends on all of us. No matter what action you take - whether signing on, sharing or showing up, you are helping us build the movement! Below are some current campaigns supported by the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition and our partners.

Support Battery Recycling!

Battery waste presents a serious challenge for Minnesota, with our current recycling systems leading to dangerous results. Proposed legislation (SF 1690/HF 1426) would require manufacturers to fully fund the collection of all electronic waste, ensuring it’s recycled responsibly.

Support the MN Phthalates Test and Report Bill (SF188 / HF44)

The Test and Report Phthalates in Packaged Food Bill (SF188 / HF44), would require companies to test and publicly report phthalate levels in food, giving Minnesotans the right to know what’s in the products they buy.

Tell Your Legislators: Support Zero Waste Policies in Minnesota!

Urge your representatives to support legislation from electronic waste battery stewardship, plastic reduction in state purchasing, phthalates testing and reporting, incineration standards, and more!

Some of Our Past Actions:

Throughout the week of March 9th 2026, members of the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition met with their legislators to advocate for zero waste policies during the 2026 legislative session as part of the Minnesota Zero Waste Week of Action. Over 60 zero waste advocates signed up to urge their representatives to support legislation from electronic waste battery stewardship, plastic reduction in state purchasing, phthalates testing and reporting, incineration standards, and more!

The week started a lobby training put on by the Coalition and there was a letter writing campaign alongside the week for folks who are unable to get meetings. By the end of the week, zero waste advocates had sent almost 200 letters.
